Riddle of the Planets

Posted March 9th, 2009 by P.A. Zeir

Both hot and cold, slow and fast
Quicksilver planet traveling past
What planet am I ?

Sister planet, hot and gassy
Morning and evening star
Backward spin, east to west
Beautiful sight you are
What planet am I ?

Watery planet, Mother Blue
Cradle of life for me and you
Lunar tides, aurora glow
How does your garden grow?
What planet am I ?

Warrior red marching by
Polar ice, rusty, dusty sky
What planet am I ?

What orbits in between
the inner and outer solar scene?

Royal giant, spinning fast
Great red storm, swirling gas
By Jove! Great god of thunder,
Inspiration, joy and wonder
What planet am I ?

Father Time, magnificent rings
Let’s see what Saturday brings
Many moons up in the sky
Ten hour day goes whizzing by
What planet am I ?

Spinning on it’s side, it circles the Sun
Ruler of skies, Big blue green one
What planet am I ?

Ruler of seas, Beautiful blue
Like all gas giants, has rings too
What planet am I ?

Because you’re a dwarf
Alas! Your fate
There once were nine
But now there’s eight
What dwarf planet am I?

We catch your winds in our sails
Beautiful yellow star
On the high seas of the Milky Way
I wonder what you are !
What am I?
